We are still working like crazy on the house. We have been over there every night this week until around 11:00 trying to beat deadlines we made. We are trying to move in in 2 weeks. We will see if we get done:)
Our little family all snug in the corner:)

This pic is hard to see but it is the wall we put in. It looks great!

This is my sink that I love soooo much. It is a farmers sink and it will stick out on the front and look oh so cool!!!!

I made this

This week I did two big projects and I have to say I am pretty proud of myself:) The first one was the ceilings and the second was re-facing the cabinet doors:)
1-We scrapped all the asbestos crap off the ceiling and then I got to texture. My dad told me how to do it and as you can see we made this cool pole thing with a bag over it. I just pricked the ceilings and . .. .

Now we have updated beautiful ceilings!!!!

2-This is what the cabinet doors looked like when we bought the house. We are keeping all the original cabinets and adding to them with the IKEA ones. But these doors needed a make over!!

I gave myself the assignment to fix the doors because I knew just what I wanted. Papa Bob helped me alot. First I had to take off all the hardware. . like so. .

After all the hardware was off, I had to clean them really well and then sand them.

I found a picture of what I wanted to do to the doors in a magazine and all I had to do was add molding to the edges. So I bought the molding, measured it and I used the table saw to cut all the pieces. Don't worry Dad I was careful and I still have all my fingers.

Then I put wood glue on the pieces and placed them on the door ever so nicely

Then I got the nail gun and I nailed all the pieces in place.

This is what they all looked like at that point.

Then I spackled and sanded all the lines and nail holes.

The next step was to prime them and Asher helped me.

This is what they look like all primed. You have to stay tuned to see the final color and product at a later date :)

IKEA

So I know that there are a lot of you out there that love IKEA so I hope to not offend you. I personally do like a lot of their stuff and the prices. And when I say I like some of their stuff I am not including their kitchen cabinets.

We purchased an IKEA cabinet for our bar area in the kitchen. The only problem with this idea is that we had to put together the dumb thing. The other night at around 10:00 Scotty and I decide to tackle the project. Bad idea. If you have ever tried to put anything together from IKEA you know that their instructions consist of helpful pictures that don't tell you a thing about what you are doing. We were putting the walls up and after a lot of mistakes finally got the thing put together. Then we had to turn it over to put the "feet" on the bottom of it. After we turned it on its side with all the care in the world noticed that there weren't any holes for the feet to go in. Then we looked on the inside of the cabinet and saw all the holes. We had put the stupid thing together with the bottom bored upside down. When Scotty saw this, he was so mad that he kicked the garbage can and then I just busted up laughing because we had spent so much time on it just to redo the whole thing. Yeah, we were annoyed. Besides the lack of good instructions, it is not very strong. I don't think it will hold the granite. So we are going to put decorative pillars on all corners or something. I will show pics when we get there. Even though the cabinets at IKEA are very inexpensive, I would highly recommend just spending the money on good ones and then you won't have to go through all the crap of fixing it. So there IKEA.

I love the beach!!!

We had a fun last week. We went to Silver strand beach and we have been goofing around. Here is our update. Oh, the house is coming slowly. Scotty wired the house for lighting. None of the bedrooms had light fixtures. Can you believe that? I have been bothered by this fact. Today I bought all the ceiling fans (5 of them) and I bought the light I want above my dinning room table. I am way excited. I will take pics when we get the lights in.

The infamous black eye that kids this age get. Graham just happens to look extra cute with his!!!!

We found this sea creature on the beach of Leo Carillo. We had no idea what it was. Do you?

Don't look to close to my face. I was having an ugly day.

Asher loves to run on the beach. Can you tell that he loves to be free. We are going to take him the next time it is really warm and Scotty is going to teach him to surf. I bet he'll be good!!!

Graham loves the sand at the beach. Nana and him were walking all over. Then Graham got a fruity o and dipped it in the sand and ate it. Weirdo

Scottys sister Tressie and her husband John came to town from Texas and my boys just loved them. They brought the boys webkins and my kids are loving the online play stuff that they are doing with them. Thanks Tress and John!!!

This was on mothers day. I think that we need a trampoline. Watch Asher in the back round flipping. It is so funny to me.

Here is our weekend update!!! Also the house update. We still have a lot of work to do. We are planning to paint in two weeks which means we need to get our butts in gear.
Scotty and Asher went to father and sons and slept in a tent. Asher loves to sleep in tents.

Asher and Graham in the rumble seat of Grandpas new model A car. It is a cool car!

Now to the house. This is what we did last night.
Yes. . I am still cleaning the @#%!* @#*&%!ing ceilings. I am so sick of them. My hands are all swollen from cleaning them. No really Sarah, how do you feel!

Bobpa took off all the cabinet doors and sanded the cabinets. We found solid wood shelves! That was a surprise

We discovered water damage in the kitchen ceiling. Now the hole is bigger than that.

Here the wall is being built!!!

Here is the proud father of the wall. Now it is up.

This is what Asher learned in primary this week. Notice the way he says "and you die and you have blood"

MIA

So I have been very busy with the new house and with regular life that I have been a little MIA in the blog scene. Sorry. I took a few pics of what we have been doing in the house. Enjoy!
The house had "popcorn" ceilings with asbestos so we had to scrap them. After you scrape them I had to get a sponge and clean off every little thing in the whole house. It has taken me days to do. :)

This is how Scotty scrapped the ceilings. He got a hose from outside, sprayed it down and then scrapped it like there is no tomorrow :)

This is the big mess that we made scrapping the ceilings

Now you see the bar

Now you don't

I have all the cabinet now. I have ordered the wood floor and tomorrow I will order the carpet. We still have a lot to do but we are chipping away at it a bit at a time ;).
