Yup! We went to Hawaii for our 10 year anniversary. We went to the island of Oahu and loved every second of it. Don't get me wrong, it was the hardest thing to leave my kids, but after crying all the way to the airport I was OK after that. Scotty was sad to leave the kid to but no tears for him:)) For some reason the pictures didn't download in order so I am starting with our last day and the going to the first day:))
Here is Scotty standing on Waimea Bay. The pictures at the end of this post are what happened on this day before we got there. This is where they have huge surf contests so Scotty wanted to get a pic there.
Then we went to the PCC or the Polynesian Cultural Center. The sister that took our picture cut out the sign that said the PCC so we were sad about that. Hello!!!
We were bored because the show that we got tickets for wasn't for an hour and a half so we went around trying to mimic the statues. We were laughing so hard that people were staring at us:))
I fell in love with coconuts while I was in Hawaii so I had to hug the coconut tree!
This is the face that made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants
We found this charging station at the PCC. Ewww competition:))) We went to the show Ha Breath of life and we sort of liked it. We were kind of bored so we picked our noses and the statues noses:)) Now it is one of those things that is "been there done that, don't wanna do it again". This was the end of our trip. We rushed to the hotel, packed our things, went to sleep and woke up at 3 am to run to our shuttle and then we flew home. We were so excited to see the kids:)) We had the best time together:))) I love my Scotty
Now back to the very beginning of the trip. . This is us waiting for our plane at the Burbank airport. Our flight was delayed by 2 hours because there was only 1 working runway in San Francisco. We had to fly there then to Honolulu. So after we waited for ever to get to San Francisco, we got there and had to wait like 3 hours because our flight there was delayed. Then after we finally got on the plane and taxied out, the pilot came on the intercom and said that we had a leak in the plane and that we had to switch planes. So by the time we left we should have already been in Hawaii. It was like 5 hours delayed. We didn't care. We were just happy to be together.
Here we are just waiting and waiting to go:))
Because of all the delays, we got in Hawaii at 3am their time which was 6 am our time. We were so tired. Here is the cute Hawaiian who gave us a lai and welcomed us to Hawaii:))
Yup, here is our bed. When we got to our hotel we slept for as long as we wanted!! No kids to wake us up!!!
Day 1: After we finally woke up we decided to go on a hike. Before we hiked, we went down for our free breakfast. This breakfast was the best ever. We loved the omelets and the coconut syrup!!! yummy!!! Then we walked about 7 miles and did Diamond Head trail. It was an easy but fun hike.
Here we are at the top. You can see Waikiki from there. So beautiful.
Here is a tree that we stopped to see on our way down LOL!!
Here we are after our hike. This is the incredible view from our hotel room. We could see the ocean and feel the easy breeze. We got dressed because we went to the beach and went surfing!! I got up like 6 times for my first time ever!!! Scotty had to stay with me while I surfed so I wanted him to have time to surf. So I went and laied out while Scotty tried to catch his set whie other locals snaked his waves:))) Loved it.
Yup this is our floor.
After we went surfing we went and cleaned up for dinner. We walked down the main street of Waikiki. There are all kinds of shops and people and street performers. It was so amazing. We had to get a picture with Duke. He was the pioneer surfer:))
Then we ate at Dukes restaurant. Just had to:)) It was so yummy and happy. Then after dinner we did a bit more shopping at the international market place and then we walked all the way on the beach back to our hotel and watched the sun set!! So beautiful. . The picture with the bear was taken while we were walking down the main street shopping area.
Day 2: We got up and had our yummy breakfast again. And yes, our omelets and coconut syrup!!! Then we tried to rent a car but they had no extras so we went and rented scooters!! Best choice ever!! They were so fun to drive!! We drove all along the coast up to Kialua where our friends Lisa and Gib Arnold live. Lisa let us borrow her car and kayak and told us where to go to hike and kayak and eat!!
This is the top of the mountain that we hiked there in Kialua. The hike was easy but beautiful. At the top you could see all over the place. Do you see those islands in the ocean? They are the Mokulua islands and after our hike we got the kayak and rowed all the way out to them. Then we played on them and found corral for Graham and just enjoyed the white soft sand. Then when we were tired we kayaked back and dropped the car and the kayak off at Lisa's house.
On our way to dinner we found this place. Cute!!! We sure missed Pepper. After this we went to a cute and yummy little deli close by.
Then we drove the poli highway back to Waikiki. It was so windy and cold that when we got to the look out point we took the picture and ran to go back. So here is the hurried windy picture:))
When we got back to Waikiki we had to stop and see the Aloha clock tower. So beautiful. Then we drove home and took showers. We weren't too hungry because we ate at the deli so we . . . . . .
got on our scooters and drove to Leanards to get some famous malasadas!! They were OK. Not my fav. Scotty loved the coconut filled ones:)) Then Scotty was a little hungry so we parked our scooters and walked to Burger King and he got some food. Then we took all our food back to the hotel and watched a bit of TV while we ate and then just fell asleep.
Day 3: We had to have the scooters back by 8am so we got up early, like at 5am and drove to go see the blow hole. It was fun and beautiful.
Then we drove back to the hotel, took the scooters back, ate the yummy breakfast, picked up our car and drove to the Koko head hike!!! This hike is crazy. It is a railroad track that goes straight up a mountain. It gets really steep at one part. The railroad ties are kind of hard to climb. But we loved it. At the top some guy was throwing up and he said, "There goes my Cinnamon toast crunch and milk" Grosssssssss
The view was just breath taking. You could see all of Waikiki and then most of the east side. Just amazing!!!
Do you see where my right thumb is pointing?? That little cove is called Hanauma Bay. After we did the hike we went over there and did some snorkeling. It was so fun. It was my first time so I was a bit nervous but after a while I was OK. Scotty was a good sport to stay with me. We saw so many fish and also two turtles. Just amazing. After about 4 hours of that we were so tired so we drove back to the hotel and cleaned up and walked the main street to find dinner. We found this cool burger place. It was yummy! After dinner we walked the street again to get last minute presents for the kids. We got them some fun shirts, Asher got a ball, Graham got a little guitar, and Pepper got a cute dress with shoes. Then we got them candy and other stuff. Then we were so tired so we went back to the hotel and fell fast asleep.
Day 4: We got up right when we decided to wake up:)) We slept in:)) Then we showered and drove to the North Shore to go to the temple in Leia. It was so beautiful. We did a session and were the witness couple. We were both so tired that we had a hard time staying awake:)))
This was in the visitor center. Then after the temple session we drove along the coast and found Wiamea Bay and then we found Sharks cove in Pupukea. We decided to stop and eat there at the Pupukea grill. It was so good. Then we went across the street and snorkeled some more at Sharks cove. It was even better then Hanauma Bay. There were more fish and they were so colorful. Oh we loved it so much. Scotty was diving down and tormenting poor catfish:)) Then after we were done we got all dressed and went to the PCC. So there you have it. That was out trip. We sure enjoyed being together. Scotty is my best friend and I love him so much. Happy 10 years baby!!
