So this topic has come up like 10 times with in the last week. So I figured I would blog about it. My Asher is a crazy "spirited" child. I love him to death but he has been challenging from day 1. OK, maybe day 2. I really didn't know what to do with him. I was so frustrated and at the end of my rope many times and all I ended up doing was blowing up and being mean to him. Now really, what mom looks at their little baby and says, " I love you so much but when you are 2 I will be totally annoyed by you". Well, I was referred to a parenting class that I took. I loved the ideas of the class so I went out and bought the book. Well all I have to say is it has been a total transformation in my parenting style. I am calm and happy and I really enjoy raising my 3 year old. He is more secure because I really am in control of myself and I have the tools that help me with any situation that comes. Now Asher has his days that are still hard, but I have the tools to help me help him. We have been doing this for around a year and the theories are set that you can start anytime in the child's life and do it forever.
The book can be purchased on Amazon.com for around $20. The title of the book is "Parenting with Love and Logic" by Foster Cline and Jim Fay. The other book I like is "How to talk so Kids will listen, and listen so kids will talk" by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. These two along with scripture study of parenting styles has really helped me with Asher. So if any of you are looking for some extra help, I promise you that you will love these books and theories. Good Luck
If anyone has questions about it seriously call me and I will give you examples and the back bone of the whole thing. 805-499-8340

We're Back
I don't have any pics from Utah because I forgot to take my camera. Oh Well. But we are back and we had a great time. We stayed with my parents in their new home. Yup, they moved again. This is like house number 15 in Utah alone. I was able to visit all my friends and that was soooo happy. I just love friends. My High School buddies rock. It was so nice to see that even though all these years have gone by that we are all still the best of friends. I love you guys. My Spanish Fork friends made me realize who much I miss having them around to play with. All their kids are the same age as mine and so I connect them with that wonderful time of life when we had our first home and our first baby and so on. I love you guys to. Thanks for helping me be a better person. And my running friends who don't just run with me but cut my hair too. I really miss running with my old buddies. The funniest thing is that my college running buddy came out from D.C. and we were able to play. It was great. And last but not least. . my parents. I just love my parents. They are so great. They really have gone threw a lot in this life and they are still just a shinning spot for me to lean on. Thanks guys.
Being around all you guys really made me realize how much I value friendship. I hope we can all stay friends with me out here. So keep blogging! It's the easiest way to keep in touch.
Thank you Angela for letting us crash your house. Thank you Sarah for letting me see your beautiful house. Thanks Allison for cutting my hair. Thanks Sariah for hanging with me. Thank you IKEA for having the floor I want for my new house!!!!! I am excited. Thank you Jill for letting us crash your house. Thanks Lisa and Amy for coming to dinner even though your sister was in surgery. And thank you Sharalynn for letting me go to cooking class. I love cooking class. Oh yea, thanks Chris and Camie for watching Asher so I could go to cooking class.
Well, I must unpack.
Peace out
Sarah

Still Nursing!!!!!
Yes folks. I am still nursing Graham. Oh wait, I should say he is still nursing. I've been ready to be done for a long time but he just won't quit. It hasn't bothered me until two days ago. I came down with a sinus infection and I need antibiotics to clear it up. Well, now I am scared of getting a yeast infection and it would transfer to him and he would get thrush. So what am I to do? I am just downing the probiotics and hoping nothing bad will happen.
So an update on the purse stolen thing: One of the big wigs of Baja Fresh called me and talked to me. He is going to call me back and let me know what they can do for me. On top of loosing all that money I have had to spend $22 to get a new license and $45 on a new phone. What Ever. Can you tell I have had it? And on top of it all I have been sick so I can't run. Those of you who know me know that if I don't run, I am not a happy camper.
I will be flying out to Utah next Monday the 11th. I am excited to see my parents and all my friends. I love friends. So I will be MIA for a few weeks. I get back the 22nd so check back then.
Peace out

Vicks Vapor Rub
So it is flu season and all and I have found the greatest thing for coughing during the night for our little ones. All you have to do is rub the Vicks Vapor Rub on the tops and bottoms of their feet, put socks on and send them to bed. I swear it works like a charm. Both my boys have coughs right now and at night I put it on their feet and both have slept well with no coughing. Try it. It even works on adults!
